Dear Dunham Community,
Based on Governor Edwards’ continuation of the stay-at-home order until May 15, and after numerous administration meetings and in consultation with the board of trustees, we have made the difficult decision to continue our distance learning model through the end of the school year. While we are disappointed that we can’t meet in person, our teachers, students, and parents continue to do an amazing job of delivering the best possible education during this time.
The start date for our summer programming is now scheduled for June 8. We are meeting with medical professionals and health experts to prepare our facilities and establish protocols to safely operate summer camp. We fully envision beginning school safely in August in face-to-face mode. We are also committed to ensuring that every family is able to return to The Dunham School, even if your personal circumstances may be uncertain. If you need help, please email me or Grady Hazel in the business office and let us know how we can assist you.
I want to thank our incredible teachers, technology staff, and division leaders. They have done a remarkable job in ensuring that Dunham families have had everything they needed to continue to operate our school at the highest level. Our staff and teachers miss our students and parents, and we can’t wait to see you again very soon—at end-of-year activities, over the summer, or as we are released from quarantine and are able to gather together safely.
I challenged the senior class to view this personal trial and stressful time as one that is building their character and preparing them for something greater. I firmly believe that God will bring our seniors and our entire school through this time as a stronger, more close-knit community of faith that continues to set the bar for Christian education in the city of Baton Rouge and across the country.
We’ve already seen the generosity of our families in providing for those who are in need of fiscal support during this time. On behalf of our entire board of trustees, faculty, staff, and administration, thank you for your prayers and your support. We look forward to serving your educational needs through the end of the school year, over the summer, and face-to-face in the new school year.
As always, may God bless you. Stay safe, and we will see you soon!
