Dear Dunham Community,
The health and well-being of our students, families, and extended community is of the utmost importance to us. In accordance with Governor Edwards’ announcement today regarding school closures in Louisiana to combat the spread of COVID-19, The Dunham School will transition to a distance learning model beginning Monday, March 16, through the conclusion of the Easter Break on Monday, April 13. All events and activities, including athletics, will be postponed. At this time, our intention is that classes will resume on Tuesday, April 14, 2020.
As we communicated to you earlier this month, we prepared a contingency plan in the event we would need to conduct online learning. Beginning Monday, March 16, Middle and Upper School students will transition to a distance learning model. Lower School students will begin distance learning on Tuesday, March 17.
Our teachers are talented, and our school is very well prepared to switch to E-School and online learning and, as you know, our students are highly skilled in using innovation and technology to learn. Procedures for our distance learning plan are outlined here.
We also know that prospective families may have some questions about our admissions process. Although our admissions staff will work remotely for the next few weeks, they are committed to staying in touch with and walking through the admissions process with prospective families. More information about adjusted procedures can be found on our admissions page.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this fluid situation. We will continue to send you updates via email that we will archive on this page for easy access. As always, please contact me or your child’s division head with any questions.
I pray that you and your family remain healthy and safe.
Steven A. Eagleton
