Discovering the Joy of Dance

Our dance program emphasizes the development of the student dance-artist in technical skill, artistic creativity, and versatility within an environment that cultivates critical thought, creative process and physical self-expression. All students have opportunities to discover the joy of dance in our studios and on the stage.

In Lower School, where the joy of dancing usually begins, students may take dance as an after-school enrichment and perform in the annual dance recital. In Middle School, the dance program strives to nurture love and respect for dance in its process. Middle School students take dance as part of their fine arts rotation each year and share their progress in quarterly showcases for faculty, family and friends. They also have the opportunity to perform in the annual Lower and Middle School musical production. Upper School students may take dance as a fine arts concentration and have many performing opportunities through community events and school wide programs, including the annual school musical and our Fine Arts Festival.

"Dance, then, wherever you may be, I am the Lord of the dance, said he, and I'll lead you all, wherever you may be, and I'll lead you all in the dance, said he."
- Sydney Carter
