National Spanish Exam

Felicitaciones (congratulations) to Parker Harris ’19 and Emma Davis ’19 for their outstanding performance on the National Spanish Exam.  

Parker scored 2nd in the state for Level IV, Classroom Experience, earning a 99 overall national percentile score. Emma place 1st in the state for Level V, Classroom Experience, earning an 88 overall national percentile score.

The National Spanish Exam is a motivational contest to recognize student achievement in the study of Spanish, to promote proficiency and to stimulate further interest in the teaching and learning of Spanish. The online test measures the performance (interpretive communication) and achievement  of students in grades 6-12 who are studying Spanish as a second language.

“We are so proud of these students and their accomplishments,” said Spanish teacher Jacquelyn Westerman.

National French Exam

Félicitations to Emma Davis '19 and Reagan Courville ’21 who earned high marks for their performance on the National French exam. Reagan earned a silver medal, placing in the 85th percentile nationally. Emma earned a bronze medal,placing in the 80th percentile nationally.  

“We are very proud of Reagan and Emma’s hard work. Their success reflects their outstanding achievement as language students at Dunham,” said French teacher  Allison Roark.

Both students are in Advanced Placement (AP) French and recently sat for the AP French exam which assesses proficiency in interpersonal, interpretive and presentational modes of communication. Emma is fluent in French and Spanish with plans to take AP Spanish next year. She will continue her language studies in college with plans to use her language skills in a career in international business or international relations.

A rising sophomore, Reagan has completed the French program at Dunham and plans to add a new language to his repertoire when he begins his study of German next year.
