Visiting Artist Irene Rampino Teaches Dance Masterclass

September 5, 2018

Professional dancer, choreographer, orthopedic physical therapist, and movement specialist Irene Rampino recently taught a masterclass to students in Dance I and II.

Rampino shared her love of biomechanics, physical therapy, movement sequences and rhythm, to guide students through a nurturing and motivating learning experience. She also led the Dance I athletes and Honors Dance students in active, assisted stretching techniques and challenged them to think about the roles breathing and nutrition play in both sports and dance.

A certified master gyrotonics instructor, Rampino leads international seminars and workshops in the mechanics of gyrokinesis, movement method that addresses the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences.

Irene Rampino’s class launched the 2018-2019 Fine Arts Visiting Artists series at Dunham, sponsored by Partners in the Arts.  Last year, Partners in the Arts sponsored seven visual and performing artists to teacher masterclasses to Upper School Fine Arts classes. These visiting artists share their passion for their careers with students as well as the paths that led them from the arts to their professional careers.

Thank you, Partners in the Arts for your continuing support for the Fine Arts at Dunham through your sponsorship of the Visiting Artists series.

We can't wait to welcome you!
