Tigers Shine at 2A State Track Meet

May 8, 2018

Bernie Moore Track Stadium at LSU, the venue for the 2A State Track & Field meet, can be intimidating, especially when filled to capacity with avid track fans as it always is for the running events. But as Coach Tim Jorgensen says, “The track is still 400 meters, the same size it is at every other track.”

Our Tiger runners made the most of their opportunities to race against the best 2A runners in state as they competed in their respective events.

Junior Sophie Moreaux placed 2nd in the Girls 2A 300 meter hurdles with a a time of 46.50, breaking her own previous school record in that event.

Eighth grader John Walker McDonald placed 5th in his first race, the boys 2A 1600 meter run with a time of 4:40.45. Later in the meet, he followed that performance with a 3rd place finish in the boys 2A 3200 meter run with a time of 10:07.80, just 5 seconds short of another school record.

Sophomore Ciara Venable, running in her first state meet, placed 9th in the girls 2A 800 meter run with a time of 2:43.67.

Congratulations to our Tiger runners for a great ending to a successful season!

We can't wait to welcome you!
