School Nurse Connie Jenkins RN Joins Dunham Staff

The Dunham School is pleased to announce that Connie Jenkins, RN, has joined the staff as the full-time school nurse.

Jenkins’ long anticipated hiring is an extension of the school’s partnership with Ochsner Health System. In this new role, Jenkins, a registered nurse since 2008, will join athletic trainer Corey Elvire to complete our campus medical staff.

“I am thrilled to welcome Connie Jenkins, RN to serve as our school nurse. We are committed to constantly improving the standard of safety, health and wellness care that the school provides,” said Head of School Steve Eagleton. The addition of a school nurse also meets a strategic plan goal for the school.

Jenkins most recently served as the Clinical Manager for Health Centers in Schools through Our Lady of the Lake, with oversight of nurses and health centers in 26 elementary, middle and high schools in East Baton Rouge parish. During her tenure, she helped to develop policies and  procedures for special programs and activities such as the Flu Project, Give Kids a Smith, Middle School Immunization Project. In addition, she handled student health needs in three schools, overseeing hearing/vision screenings, supervising  patient care to special needs students and providing health education  and policies to parents.

Jenkins received her nursing degree from Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing. She holds professional affiliations as a nursing school preceptor with Southeastern Louisiana University, Southern University, Baton Rouge Community College and Our Lady of the Lake College. Jenkins is a member of the Louisiana School Nurse Association and holds State Department of Education School Nurse Certification.
