Nineteen Dunham students will advance to the State Literary Rally as a result of their individual performances at the annual District Literary Rally on February 24, 2018 at Southeastern Louisiana University. Of 49 Middle and Upper School students representing Dunham at the District rally, 28 were district qualifiers with 7 students winning first place in their subjects.
First place winners automatically advance to the State Literary Rally scheduled for April 28 at Louisiana State University. Placing first in their subjects were Reagan Courville '21, English I; Noah Fair '18, Computer Science; Michaela Fennel ’20, French II; Parker Harris '19, English III; Jessica Nguyen '21, Algebra 1; Ciara Venable ’20, French III; and Charles Wang '18, Calculus.
Several students who placed 2nd or 3rd in their subjects also advanced to the State rally. Other State qualifiers include: Katie Dunphy ’19, Advanced Math/PreCalculus; JP Dowling ’21, Algebra II; Tre Landaiche ’20, Biology I; Luke Russell ’19, Biology II; Catherine Enos ’20, Chemistry; Emma Spencer ’20, English II; Caroline Landreneau ’18, English IV; Devyani Vij ’22, Geometry; Maddie Benton ’22, Physical Science; Hayden Dudley ’19, Physics; Joshua Harris ’22, Spanish I; and Andra Negulescu’ 20, Spanish II.
Students who qualified for District but did not advance to the State rally include Thomas Brinson ’18; Sylvia Chen’19, Calculus I; Michael Dudley ’22, Spanish I;Baron Hingle ’21, Physical Science; Camden Holmes ’21, English I; Reed Landry ’19, English III; Anushka Singh, Advanced Math/PreCalculus; and Will Smith ’19, Biology I.
In the Art Contest, Caroline Bardwell ’20, who received Honorable Mention, was also a district qualifier.
Dunham students will also compete in several open events at the State Rally that did not have district qualifying tests. These include Latin, Spanish and French Interpretive Reading and Extemporaneous Speaking and Drama.
