Dunham Students Explore  Language and Culture at Recent State French Convention

February 20, 2020

Dunham French students Sydney Boudreaux '22, Simone Riley '23, Rachel Stanger '23, Gabriel Bostick '22, Aubrey Sorrells '22 and Catherine Van Haute '22 recently traveled to Lafayette to participate in the Association Louisianaise des Clubs Françaises des Écoles Secondaires (ALCFES) convention. The students spent their weekend speaking French and learning about French heritage in Louisiana as they competed in various French language and culture-related competitions.

Boudreaux and Stanger won 2nd place in the creative writing competition.

Riley was selected as Regional Representative and will help to form the future of la francophonie in Louisiana by promoting French to Louisiana high school students through the ALCFES Convention 2020.

Van Haute, Bostick  and Stanger were selected to read a poem by the Louisiana poet Jean Arcenaux for a special CODOFIL video project during their time exploring the nearby Vermilionville historic village.  Many thanks to our fabulous parent chaperone, Dr. Leslie Bostick.

We can't wait to welcome you!
