The Dunham School is thrilled to announce that we have received our seventh consecutive Apple Distinguished School Award for the use of innovation and technology to transform teaching and learning. Dunham has been designated as an Apple Distinguished School continuously since 2011and is the only school in Louisiana, and one of only a few in the nation, to hold seven awards.
“When we talk about innovation and creativity at Dunham, we’re really talking about students having the ability to understand coding and the creative tools enabled by technology. In addition to helping our students engage with the curriculum to a greater degree, we’re building excitement and equipping them with important future-ready skills that have real-life relevance and application,” says Head of School Steve Eagleton. “The credit for this award goes to our teachers, students, and technology department for the ways that they apply technology to achieve greater academic success and experience transformational learning.”
February 11-14 will be designated as Apple Distinguished School Week on campus. This will be a time of celebration with fun activities and surprises in store for our teachers and students each day, culminating in a pep rally on Friday afternoon. Please be sure to check our social media accounts and the Daily Spirit for photos and more details about each day's events.
On Thursday, we will share our expertise with the larger community by hosting an Apple Showcase. Student teachers from LSU, Southern University, and Southeastern Louisiana University will attend training sessions in the morning, and then students from Dufrocq and Mayfair elementary schools will join us on campus to explore coding, movie making, virtual reality, and other activities that allow them to engage in real-world applications of technology.
