Dunham Mathletes Shine at Mu Alpha Theta Tournament

To Dunham Mathletes, only one thing counts: excelling in competition.  

The team’s performance in the recent Mu Alpha Theta Math Tournament at Episcopal High School was no exception. Competing against the best math minds representing 21 schools from Baton Rouge, New Orleans and Covington, every member of the Dunham Mathletes team earned an award.

The 12 member Dunham team earned 4th place in the InterSchool Test/Competition. Team members included Sylvia Chen ‘19, Reagan Courville ‘21, Hayden Dudley ’19, Rhett Greer ‘21, Joshua Harris ‘22, Barry Liu’19, Jason Pere ‘22, Eric Ponder ‘19, Bella Rovere ’19,  Devyani Vij ‘22, Raveena Vij ‘21, and Jack Zhang ‘19.

Dunham fielded two teams in the Potpourri competition which included questions from various math levels and topics, including probability and statistics. The team of Chen, Dudley, Ponder and Zhang placed 3rd, while team of Greer, Liu, Rovere and Raveena Vij earned Honorable Mention.

In addition to the team awards, the following students were recognized with individual awards in their respective subjects: Chen, BC Calculus, Honorable Mention; Harris, Algebra II, Honorable Mention; Ponder, BC Calculus Honorable Mention, D. Vij, 4th place Algebra II; R. Vij, Pre Calculus, Honorable Mention, and Zhang, BC Calculus Honorable Mention.
