Dunham Mathletes Score Triumph at Baton Rouge High Tournament

Dunham Mathletes scored another triumph at the recent Baton Rouge High School Math Tournament, earning a third place in the overall Sweepstakes as a result of superior team and individual performances. Twenty-three school, including public and private schools from Baton Rouge, New Orleans and surrounding areas,  participated in the tournament.

The team of Algebra 1/Algebra 2 students Hannah Grace Erikson '23, Kari Johnson '23, Grace Robvais '23, Elizabeth McDonald '23, Mackenna Sink '23, Devyani Vij '23, Jason Pere '22 and Joshua Harris '22 won 1st place in the Lower Interschool Test.

The BC Calculus team of Sylvia Chen '19, Eric Ponder '19 and Jack Zhang '19 won 3rd place on the Upper Interschool Test.

Tiger Mathletes who also won individual awards include Josh Harris '23, Algebra 2, 2nd Place; Elizabeth McDonald '23, Algebra 1 ,Honorable Mention; Jason Pere '22, Algebra 2, Honorable Mention; Devyani Vij,'23, Algebra 2, Honorable Mention; and Sylvia Chen '19, Calculus BC, Honorable Mention.

“Our Dunham Mathletes continue to show their math prowess in competition,” Math Department Chair Sheri Goings said.  “Their success at all levels against much larger teams is a testament to excellent work in the classroom as well as the drive of these students.”
