Dunham Hosts Innovation Showcase for Baton Rouge Educators

January 18, 2018

The Dunham School will host an Innovation Showcase for Baton Rouge area teachers on Tuesday, January 30 from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm in the McVea Quest Center on the Dunham campus.

This free professional development opportunity, presented by Dunham faculty and open to all Baton Rouge area teachers, will focus on injecting innovation into education by creating engaging, student-centered classrooms that prepare children for the future. Lunch will be provided.

“We are excited to share what we have learned with the Baton Rouge community and to network with area teachers  who have the desire to transform education and prepare our students for the future,” says Nikole Blanchard, Dunham’s Director of Innovation and Technology. “Together we are better, and we need more opportunities like this one to connect with colleagues.”

Since 2009, when The Dunham School partnered with Apple, Inc. to adopt a one-to-one technology program, the school has been committed to providing students with a cutting edge education that prepares them for the future. Through regular professional development opportunities, Dunham teachers have been trained to creatively infuse innovation into their classroom curriculum.

The morning session of the Innovation Showcase  will include a presentation by Blanchard followed by classroom observations, innovation/technology workshops and networking opportunities. In the afternoon session, attendees will apply what they have learned by participating in innovation events for students from nearby schools.
