Dunham Graduate Alyssa Sharbaugh Named 2018 National Merit Scholar

Recent Dunham graduate Alyssa Sharbaugh' 18 has been named a 2018 National Merit Scholar in the 63rd annual National Merit Scholarship program.

The daughter of Kyle and Elona Sharbaugh, Alyssa has received $836,900 in collegiate scholarship offers, including the National Merit Louisiana State University Scholarship. She will attend LSU with plans to major in Biology to prepare for a career in veterinary medicine. “I love animals and want to have a job that lets me help them,” Alyssa said.

A student at The Dunham School  since third grade, Alyssa completed her high school academic career with a 4.306 grade point average. She was also named as a 2017 Advanced Placement (AP) Scholar and was a member of the National Honor Society.

Alyssa is one of 3,500 winners of of National Merit Scholarships sponsored by U.S colleges and universities, selected from a pool of 15,000 2018 National Merit Finalists. With the designation of National Merit Scholar, Alyssa has joined a select group of 7,500 academically talented high school students from the Class of 2018 who have received National Merit Scholarships from colleges, universities, and corporate sponsors for up to four years of college undergraduate study, collectively worth over $31 million.
