Dunham Boys Win First State Tennis Title

Youth helped serve up a title for The Dunham School boys on the final day of the Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Tennis tournament.

Dunham scored 8.5 points to edge Evangel Christian by one point for its Division IV State title at the University of Louisiana at Monroe.

“The Dunham girls have a won a title before, but this is the first time for the boys,” Dunham coach Ronnie Walters said. “We came in with three doubles teams and a singles player. This is an very young team that includes some guys in middle school. Our doubles teams set the tone.”

The Tiger team of Hayden Dudley '19 and Kyle Pastor '19 placed second to lead the way. The other Tiger doubles team of Michael Dudley '22 and Oren Gleason '20 reached the semi-finals before losing to the ultimate doubles champions from Evangel.
