Junior Ciara Venable has been selected as a semifinalist for the Paul A. Dufour & Julia Dufour Richardson Scholarship, awarded by the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, which provides assistance for exceptional high school students to attend private classes with recognized professional artists in the Greater Baton Rouge area.

Based on their submissions to the the Baton Rouge Gallery’s Real-Life Experience Juried High School Exhibition, a select group of area high school artists who show exceptional promise in the visual arts are invited to apply for the scholarship. The scholarship recipient will receive six to ten hours of individual instruction and mentorship from a Baton Rouge Gallery member artist or recognized visual artist in the community. Supplies for the scholarship are also provided.

Ciara is one of eight young artists selected as 2019 semifinalists. The winner will be announced in May 2019.
