Derek Stingley Jr. '19 Named AP Preseason 1st-Team All-American

August 23, 2021

As the countdown to the kickoff of a new season continues for the LSU Tigers, preseason accolades continue to pour in for Dunham Tiger alum and LSU cornerback Derek Stingley, Jr '19. Derek and teammate Cade York have been named preseason first-team All-Americans by the Associate Press.

Dunham plans to retire Derek's #24 Dunham Tigers jersey in a brief ceremony between Jamboree games on Friday, August 27 at Dunham Stadium.

Going into this season, Derek has the potential to join former LSU defensive back Tommy Casanova as the only three-time first-team All-Americans in school history. Derek is also on watch lists for several national awards, including the Bednarik Award (defensive player of the year), the Jim Thorpe Award (best defensive back), the Bronko Nagurski Trophy (best defensive back) and the Paul Hornung Award (best all-purpose player).

Our Dunham Tiger Nation will have its eyes on our favorite LSU Tiger, back on the field, wearing the prestigious #7 jersey this season.
