Congratulations to Ciara Venable '20, who been awarded a National Merit Scholarship from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Valued at $109,000, this scholarship includes tuition, campus housing, meal plan, and a $500 semester educational allowance for four years of undergraduate study. She will also receive a one-time $4,000 study abroad scholarship.

Ciara, who plans to pursue a degree in finance, was selected by the university from among the Finalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program who plan to attend their institution. She is one of 115 National Merit Scholarship winners from Louisiana high schools announced so far.

By the conclusion of this year’s competition, approximately 7,600 students nationwide will have won National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million.
