Dunham Seniors Receive National Merit Recognition

The Dunham School is pleased to announce that seniors JP Dowling, Rhett Greer, and Raveena Vij have been named National Merit Commended students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program.

JP Dowling, son of Patti Peters Dowling '92 and Dustin Dowling, is in his 13th year at Dunham. In addition to his academic work, JP has competed in soccer and cross country. He hopes to travel north for college in pursuit of a degree in physical therapy.

Rhett Greer, son of Jonathan and Rene´ Greer, has been a student at The Dunham School for three years. He also has received academic recognition as an 2020 Advanced Placement Scholar with Distinction. The honor student serves as Head Prefect, is a member of the National Honor Society and Mu Alpha Theat, performed in theatre productions, and has played on two State Championship basketball teams with the Tigers. His top college choices include The University of Notre Dame, California Institute of Technology, and Vanderbilt University.


Raveena Vij, daughter of Mohit and Anjali Vij, has been at Dunham since Pre-K. In addition to serving as this year's Connections Prefect, Raveena also participates in the Institute of Leadership, Key Club and cheers for the Tigers as the captain of the varsity cheer squad. Her top potential college choices include Yale University, Duke University and Baylor University, where she plans to major in chemistry with plans for a career in medicine.

"Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success," commented a NMSC spokesperson. "These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation."

About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.5 million students who entered the 2021 competition by taking the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).
