Head baseball coach Sham Gabehart describes his team this way: “Collective greatness, by the sum of all the parts.”

Thanks to all the parts—hot bats, cool pitching, smart base running and capitalizing on their opponent’s errors—the fourth-seeded Tigers handled Northlake Christian in two games (15-2, 6-1), winning the Division III best-of-three quarterfinal round series. The Tigers now advance to the semi-final round of the Division III State Baseball tournament at McMurry Park in Sulphur, Louisiana.

“We work on handing it off to the next guy and staying disciplined at the plate,” Gabehart said. “There’s a saying that hitting is contagious and it’s true. We have some good players in our lineup.”

Gabehart’s Tigers will face top-seeded St.Thomas Aquinas at 10:00 am on Thursday, May 10 in the first semi-final game. With a win, the Tigers will advance to the Division III State Championship Game on Saturday, May 12 at 5:00 pm.
