Middle School Students Experience Joy in Serving Others

December 1, 2021

Dunham Middle School students have experienced the joy of serving others through holiday projects designed to help the “least of these,” both locally and globally.

On the home front, The Dunham School chapter of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) sponsors a annual holiday food drive to benefit The Shepherd’s Market, a local food pantry serving people in the 70810 zip code.  NJHS members in 7th and 8th grades collected donations of non-perishable food items and household products for the drive.

Through the efforts of the NJHS members, their middle school classmates and the school community, Dunham collected 2,698 items of canned food and household items, weighing in at a whopping 1,787.2 pounds, for The Shepherd’s Pantry, learning in the process powerful lessons about serving others who are less fortunate.

On the global front, participation in Operation Christmas Child, sponsored by Samaritan’s Purse, is a treasured Dunham holiday tradition. Middle school students and their families enjoyed stuffing boxes with necessities, clothing, toys and other treats chosen especially for “their child.” Collectively, our Dunham families packed 110 shoeboxes now winging their way to needy children living in war-torn countries around the world.

We can't wait to welcome you!
