Lower School students develop creativity by applying the elements and principles of art and art history through explorations in drawing, painting, clay, collage, and other media. Focusing on the elements of principles and design, ceramics, and sculpture, the Middle School art program allows students to develop the ability to communicate personal ideas through art vocabulary, technical skills, and artistic expression. In Upper School, students refine their talents in intensive studio art courses, beginning with Art I and advancing to AP Studio Art. Each year, Dunham graduates receive offers to continue their training in highly selective arts programs at colleges and universities across the country.
