Dunham Seniors Named as National Merit Finalists

Joshua Harris '22 & Devyani Vij '22 | 2022 National Merit Finalists

The Dunham School is pleased to announce that seniors Joshua Harris and Devyani Vij have been named as finalists by the National Merit Scholarship Program, two of approximately 15,000 high school seniors still eligible to compete for National Merit Scholarships worth more than $31 million that will be offered later this spring.

A Dunham student since Kindergarten, Joshua Harris '22 is the son of Jennifer and J.P. Harris. Based on his performance in Advanced Placement classes (AP), Harris received national recognition as an AP Scholar® with Distinction. In addition, he plays in the Dunham band, runs varsity cross country and is a leader in the school’s robotics program. Harris will  attend Louisiana State University in pursuit of a degree in mathematics or computer science, with plans to pursue a career in AI Development. 

Devyani Vij '22, the daughter of Mohit and Anjali Vij, also has received recognition as a AP Scholar® with Distinction. Enrolled at Dunham since Pre-Kindergarten 4, she currently serves as Senior Class secretary,  is co-President of the Dunham chapter of Mu Alpha Theta, and co-President of the school’s  Big Sis Lil Sis program. Devyani also is active in the Young Entrepreneurs Academy, where she developed an app to help teens develop sound financial skills. She will attend Columbia University in the fall, with plans to major in Financial Engineering.  

According to the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, approximately 7500 Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar® title.
