Aqua Tigers Boys Swim Team Captures 4th Place in Division IV State Meet

November 19, 2020

Two-event winner Patrick Murphy ’22 led the way as Dunham’s Aqua Tigers finished fourth in the Division IV boys competition at the  LHSAA State Swim Meet held November 18-19, 2020 at the YMCA of Northwest Louisiana in Shreveport, LA.

Murphy won the 100m Breaststroke and the 200m Individual Medley races, setting a new pool record with his breaststroke time of 59.49

“I am really proud  of my team. I thought we did good all through the meet,” Murphy said. “Some of my friends dropped Tim and I was really happy this year to be a double winner.”

The 4-man Tiger relay team of Murphy, Reed Jantzi ’22, Baron Hingle ’21 and Hayden Hingle ’24 won the 400m Freestyle relay, as a result of disqualifications to 1st and 2nd place teams.  With just 4 team members, the Tigers finished 4th overall out of 17 teams,  all with much larger rosters.

Other individual highlights from the meet included Top Ten finishes for Jantzi with 2nd place in the  100m Backstroke and 5th place (and a personal best) in the 100m Butterfly. Baron Hingle was also a Top Ten finisher with 7th place in the 100m Backstroke.

It was a great day in the water for our small in number but fierce Aqua Tiger team and a fantastic ending to a successful 2020 season.
