Alumni Spotlight

Chase Augustus ‘21

Dunham caught up with 2021 alumnus Chase Augustus, who is currently working with the New Orleans Pelicans.

What was your favorite Dunham memory?

My favorite memory was winning the Basketball State Championship my Senior Year. It was back to back titles for me and that senior class, and it was a pivotal moment not only at Dunham, but in my life so far.

When did you come to Dunham?

6th grade

Who was your favorite teacher or coach and why?

My favorite teacher was Mrs. Swanner. She was my freshman year English teacher, and was also my advisor. She was a huge part of that first year in High School, and continued to be a mentor for me throughout my years and still to this day.

What was your Dunham House?

The Best House, House Love!

What college did you choose, and how did you choose your current occupation?

I attended Elon University. For me, it had a lot of similarities to Dunham due to its tight knight community, and it allowed me to explore multiple passions without hyperfocusing on one major/organization. My passion for sports has followed me into my professional career, as I am currently on staff in the Sales Department for the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans!

What advice would you give to students considering your career?

Do what you love, and find a way to help people while doing it. It’s a lot easier to succeed in what you do if you can find a career that does both.

What advice would you give to your fellow alumni?

Stay connected! Not only to each other, but to current students. Life is about the connections we make, and you reap what you sow!
