How did Dunham impact your life?

It helped shape me into the creative and sociable individual that I am today! And to this day, I am still best friends with my friends from kindergarten! I am so grateful for those friendships, and that’s all thanks to Dunham!

Advice that you would give to students considering your career?

I would suggest studying architecture or interior design. But another great way to learn is to shadow someone in the industry. I worked as an art curator for an interior design firm in New Orleans for several years and I learned so much from my boss and team. By the time I purchased my own home to design, I had a lot of confidence and knowledge going into it because of that experience.

What was your favorite Dining Hall meal?

Back in my day, in lower school, we actually had Taco Bell, McDonald’s, Popeyes, and Pizza Hut offered at lunch! Maybe not the healthiest (hence why it didn’t last long), but it was pretty iconic as a kid!

When did you come to Dunham?

Pre-K to Senior

Who was your favorite teacher or coach and why?

This is a trouble-making question! I don’t have ONE favorite - I have many! To name a few--Mrs. Hackler, Donna Pixley, Coach Morris, and Coach Donald! Mrs. Hackler, my art teacher, was magic and she encouraged me to pursue my love of art which led to a career of art-making and creating. And all my coaches were beneficial to my growth as an athlete and as a human! They were sort of like Life Coaches!

What college did you choose, and how did you choose your current occupation?

I chose to attend college at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. I absolutely loved it and cannot recommend it enough. I knew I wanted to go out of state, be in a city, experience Greek life, attend a great art program. SMU checked all those boxes. I studied Fine Art and Art History.
After college, I moved to NYC to pursue a career in fashion that led to event planning. In 2014, I moved to New Orleans to chase the dream of being an artist. Lucky for me there was an interior design firm curating artwork for a large scale hospital, and they needed 4,000 pieces of artwork fast! So, I was happy to help. I ended up painting more than 200 pieces for that hospital and eventually graduated to becoming a curator on the team. I helped curate art for UMC, Children’s and the VA Hospital in New Orleans. But it was during the pandemic, when I purchased my first home, that I found my true calling in life...interior design. I started my firm, Goss Designs, 2.5 years ago and haven’t looked back!

What advice would you give to students considering your career?

*That rules in design are meant to be broken. *Always be authentic to your aesthetic but
accommodating to your client’s wishes!
