This month Brady shared some fond memories and life lessons learned from his time playing sports with his coaches and teammates at The Dunham School.
Favorite memory as a Dunham Athlete?
Bus rides home and energy level after football games...nothing like it! We went 10-0 my senior year, and the excitement kept building each week. Lots of celebrations, team pride, and moments that brought us together throughout the season.
How did playing sports at Dunham impact your life?
Too many to list and I'm grateful for every one of them! The power of teams working together for a common goal. Football's mental toughness and commitment to the journey. Giving it all on both ends of the basketball court. Baseball's concentration and focus as a pitcher and batter. No matter the sport, there's always an opportunity to develop lifelong disciplines.
What was your favorite tradition of Dunham Athletics?
Pregame meals at Piccadilly each week before football games, listening to elevator music, and playing “Name That Tune” with the boys! Although not well known, these kinds of traditions and laughs will last a lifetime.
What is something - advice or practice - that your coach taught you that has continued in your life today?
I still get chills or excitement hearing a coach call out “Someone Make a Play” as it's time to step up and great things will follow. I can also still see the crowd standing to their feet chanting "We Believe" in the final seconds of the School's '87 State Championship Basketball game. These memories can get you through any day as there is always a way to break through!
What advice would you give to student athletes today?
Be well balanced. As amazing as sports careers are, there are so many other greats that live on including your teammates or relationships. Be disciplined, yet have fun. Success comes from hard work, but don't forget the reason you first loved or played the sport in the neighborhood with friends. Take it all in as it's a unique chapter in life that flies by.
