Mission & Accreditation

Mission

The Dunham School seeks to provide students with the opportunity for a college preparatory education set in the framework of Christian education and example.

To this end, the School offers boys and girls rigorous academic instruction, challenging athletic and recreational activities, and creative expression in the fine arts. Each of these opportunities is ultimately grounded in a desire to educate the heart. The key to what we do is the faculty, who serve as role models, mature in their professional growth and Christian faith.

Accreditation

The Dunham School is approved by the Louisiana State Department of Education and holds dual accreditation by AdvancED/SACS and the Southern Association of Independent Schools (SAIS). The school is a member of the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS); the Southern Association of Independent Schools; the Southern Association for College Admission Counseling; and theNational Association of College Admission Counseling (NACAC). Dunham is a 2005 Blue Ribbon School and a six-time Apple Distinguished School.

The Honor Code

I want to be a person who seeks God first, above pursuit of my personal gain or pleasure. I ask God to change my heart to be more like Jesus so I may live more fully for His honor and glory. Today, with God’s help, I commit to being honest, respectful of others and their property, cooperative with all school authorities and active in service to others. On my word of honor, I will strive to be an exemplary citizen of The Dunham School.

The Honor Code is the basis for all conduct policies and a primary building block of our school community. We believe that each student should have a strong sense of personal honor and integrity and that these character qualities will be vital assets throughout life.
