The Mission
The premise behind the McKay Academic Center is a simple one: Every child learns differently.
A s a college preparatory school with high academic standards for our students, The Dunham School established the McKay Academic Center (MAC) in Fall 2007 to respond to the individual learning needs of all our students, wherever they function on the learning spectrum. At the MAC, individual academic needs are met, including assistance for those who struggle and challenge for those who are accelerated.
The mission of the McKay Academic Center is to help teachers and parents detect and delineate learning differences in students, then provide prescriptive assistance as needed. Our teachers, tutors and other support professionals work as a team to move students forward to achieve and maximize their God-given academic potential.
The McKay Academic Center is named in memory of Leah Hipple McKay (1961-2006), whose life work was to find a place where her son and other children could learn and thrive. Her dedication championed all children and opened doors for many.
