The Dunham School seeks to enroll students with the demonstrated academic ability, character, and potential to successfully complete our college preparatory program and to make a positive contribution to our school community. Our admissions process is designed to familiarize prospective students and their parents with our school and provide our Admissions Committee with the necessary information to make the best decision regarding enrollment.

Although we recommend that families begin the admissions process by scheduling a meeting and campus tour with a member of our Admissions Team, we encourage you to submit your online application as soon as possible. We also have several open houses planned this year and invite you to join us as your schedule will allow. While attendance at an open house is not a requirement for admissions, it is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn more about our school and meet our teachers and students.

Admissions Process by Grade

Admission to Dunham is both selective and thoughtful, with careful consideration given to a candidate's character, previous academic record, recommendations, and performance on admissions testing. The Dunham School has a long-standing policy of non-discrimination and admits students of any race or ethnic origin to all of the rights, privileges, programs, and activities accorded students at the School.

  1. If possible, attend the Lower School Open House in the fall
  2. Schedule an interview and tour with the Admissions Office
  3. Submit a completed application and fee by January 10 priority deadline*
  4. Once we've received your completed application and fee, we'll be in touch with you to coordinate the required documents (transcript and records release, teacher recommendation, principal/director recommendation)
  5. Complete admissions testing (scheduled by Admissions Office once application and fee are received)
  6. Schedule a parent interview with Head of Lower School (only if requested by Admissions Office)
  7. Upon receiving an offer of admission, submit signed enrollment contract and a non-refundable $750 deposit to secure placement

*Applicants whose files are completed by January 10 will be given priority consideration and will be notified regarding admission as soon as the Admissions Committee has reviewed all applicant files. Admissions decisions for candidates whose files are completed after the January 10 priority deadline are made as each application is processed until all available spaces are filled. After that time, accepted students are placed in a wait pool and will be admitted if space becomes available. An exception to the priority consideration deadline of January 10 is the early decision process, which takes place in October and November for applicants to PreK3 and PreK4. For more information about Early Decisions, please contact the Admissions Office.

  6. After receiving notification of successful admissions testing, schedule parent and student interviews with the Upper School Director
  7. Upon receiving an offer of admission, submit signed enrollment contract and a non-refundable $750 deposit to secure placement
