Junior Ring Ceremony Marks Dunham Rite of Passage
As they get used to the shiny new rings now resting on their fingers, the Dunham Class of 2019 prepares to step into leadership as next year’s seniors.
The Junior Ring Ceremony is an annual rite of passage, rich with tradition and a marking the transfer of the mantle of leadership from the current senior class to the rising senior class. Following words of challenge and encouragement by their chosen speaker, Upper School history teacher Mitch McIlwain, the rising seniors received their long-awaited class rings.
The ceremony concluded as junior class president Anushka Singh accepted the symbolic passing of the torch from senior class president Maci Jackson.
The reception that followed was an excited mix of joy and nostalgia, as students celebrated their new status and parents lamented the rapid passage of time and the realization that they have just one more year with their children before they leave the nest, college bound.
Congratulations to the Class of 2019!
